On 31st October 2010, the Lions Club of Kuantan City jointly organised a blood and organ donation drive with Persatuan Kebajikan Chee Siew Shan Ser Kuantan Pahang, Persatuan Kesenian Opera Cina Kuantan Pahang and Ho Sheng Musical Society with the aim of replenishing the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan Blood Bank. The event which took place at Kuantan Parade from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm was officially launched by Teruntum Assemblyman YB Chang Hong Seong who in his speech encouraged more such activity and social responsibility.
Approximately 180 people of all races and from all walks of life registered for the blood donation exercise which resulted in the collection of 125 bags of blood. There were also 7 people who pledged to donate their organs.
Successful blood donors were treated to goody bags generously contributed and put together by Jasmine Food (Kuantan) Sdn Bhd, Hawaii Bakery & Food Industries (M) Sdn Bhd, Guiness Malta, Nestle Products (M) Sdn Bhd and Lion Tay Kah Hoo. Several well wishers also collectively contributed RM820.00 towards covering the expenses of the drive.
The respective organising chairpersons were Lion Lee Yie Chong for Lions Club of Kuantan City, Mr. Choo Ah Cheok for Persatuan Kebajikan Chee Siew Shan Ser Kuantan Pahang, Ms. Josephine Chong for Persatuan Kesenian Opera Cina Kuantan Pahang and Ms. Chan Sai Lian for Ho Sheng Musical Society.
