"Loh Sang" Fund Raising Dinner

The 2011 “Loh Sang” Dinner organised by the Lions Club of Kuantan City to raise funds in aid of the Lions Education Foundation Fund received a surge of contributions from the Kuantan Community who rose to the occasion by doing their bit for the poor during the Chinese New Year season. The Dinner held at the Astana Ballroom of the M.S. Garden Hotel was graced by Guest of Honour, YB Chang Hong Seong, ADUN Kawasan Teruntum and his Lady, Mdm Khoo Mui Ling, together with Special Guest, District Governor 308-B1 Lion Dato’ Yeow Wah Chin and his Lady, Datin Genevieve. 

The Lions Education Foundation Fund was founded by DG Lion Dato’ Yeow recently with the objective of providing financial assistance to poor students who may not be eligible for other grants for higher education. DG Lion Dato’ Yeow said “To date, the Lions in District 308-B1 have in a combined effort managed to raise RM1.2 Million towards this Fund. The first batch of students who will receive the benefit of this Fund will be processed within the next few months.” 

Guest of Honour, YB Chang, graciously contributed the sum of RM2,000.00 and in his speech commended the Lions of District 308-B1. YB Chang further congratulated the members of the Lions Club of Kuantan City for the charitable projects which have been carried out by them to the benefit of the less fortunate. At the request of the members of the Lions Club of Kuantan City during the Dinner, YB Chang graciously entertained the guests with a karaoke number which raised a further sum of RM2,419.00 for the said Fund. A total of RM7,419.00 was presented by the Lions Club of Kuantan City to DG Lion Dato’ Yeow at the end of the evening.
